Crawly Crypt Vol 2: Atari ST Graphics Programs & Utilities

1STIMG    1st Image by Hermann Friedhoff is a top notch art program for the
          Atari ST (also tested on a Falcon030 and it works great!).  This
          program will load and save *.IMG format pictures.  It features MANY
          type of drawing tools including: Lines, ellipses, rectangles, text,
          and MUCH MUCH more.  Has a very slick GEM interface.  The program and
          all documentation is in GERMAN but is VERY easy and intuitive for
          English speaking people to use.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!


3D2_POV   CYB_POV version 1.2 - release 2 by Jochen Knaus is a FREEWARE utility
          that will convert Cybersculpt 3D2 files into Persistence of Vision
          source code format (for use with POV version 1.x and 2.x).  Has
          options that allow you control over the conversion process.  The
          program and all documentation is in German, but this is another
          program that English speaking people shouldn't have too much trouble
          using.


ALBUM_92  Album ' 92 version 1.0 by Rainer Bednorz is a program for the
          manipulatiion of clip art files in various formats.  It offers a
          variety of options, including cut, paste, erase, and a text mode.  It
          will even load and use Signum fonts.  The program and all
          documenation is in German.


ANIMATE4  Animate 4 by Tom Hudson is the fourth generation animation display
          program for the CYBER family of products (Cyber Studio, Cyber
          Control, Cyber Paint, Cyber VCR, and Cyber Sculpt).  This program
          will display delta file AND sequence animations, created either by
          Cyber Paint in .DLT or .SEQ format, or Cyber Studio/Control in .DLT
          format.  This version of ANIMATE will also display all color palette
          changes in .SEQ files created with CYBER PAINT 2.0, and no longer
          uses the double buffering command of the previous animation programs.
          (The buffering is now automatic, and very fast.)


ANIST     Ani ST by Jim Kent.  You may be familiar with the program previously
          marketed by Aegis as Aegis Animator (TM).  Jim Kent, who wrote the
          program, has received the rights to it back from Aegis.  Citing an
          inability for people to find the program, he has entered it in the
          shareware market under the new name Ani ST.  The suggested shareware
          contribution is a smile.  The only change made in the program is a
          fix to a problem the program had running with GDOS.


ANSI10    Ansipaint version 1.0 beta by Dirk Hoeschen is a tool that allows any
          ST user to paint logos and pictures with a IBM-charset and save them
          in the ANSI format widely used by the IBM community.  It is mouse
          driven and features cut/copy options and an Undo option.  Full color
          suppport.  Now Sysops can draw fancy ANSI screens for their BBSes.


APEXFV3   Apex file viewers from Black Scorpions [Jan 26, 1995] for the ST/
          Falcon including: A FULL 24 bit Falcon/ST/STe TARGA viewer that
          supports 16, 24, & 32 bit (un)/compressed Targas.  A full 24 bit JPEG
          DSP viewer. 256/16 bit truecolor FLIC player for Autodesk FLI, FLC,
          FLH, FLT & FLX formats. A 24 bit 256 color Falcon GIF viewer that
          uses optical persistance to achieve 16.7 Million colors!


ATSIRDS   AtSIRDS by Christian Perle is a program that will create SIRDS
          (Single Image Random Dot Stereograms) and SIS stereogram images and
          save them out to disk in TGA format.  It will create full blown True
          Color images so that resulting files can be VERY big.  SIRDS are a
          method in which a seemingly random array of dots actually contain a 3
          dimensional image.  To see the image you must look "behind" (some
          people say cross eyed works too) the dots.  SIS is basically the same
          as SIRDS, but the pattern is not random.  There must be a picture
          file which is tiled across the image to create the pattern.


AVI_P096  AVI-Player version 0.96 by Dieter Fiebelkorn is A simple AVI player
          for Atari computers that works in monochrome, 16 color, and 256 color
          video modes.  At the moment the viewer supports only CRAM8, CRAM16
          and uncompressed, RLE8, RLE4 (untested) and CVID.  For now there is
          no support for sound.  Includes an ST (68000) version, a 68030
          version, and a version that uses the math co-processor. Postcardware!


BIGMAC2   BigMacShow by Chet Walters will convert MAC format pictures (created
          on an Apple Macintosh) to Degas format.  It can also be used as a MAC
          format picture slideshow.  BigMacShow should now distinguish between
          true MAC format files and those irritating "pseudo" MAC files from
          PFS:First-Publisher or wherever.  BigMacShow works in either ST
          Medium or ST High resolution.  It is Donationware!


BMPSHOW   BMP SHow by Robert W Stiles.  This program will display 1/2/4/8 bit
          color uncompressed MSDOS Windows *.BMP files on your ATARI. This is a
          no thrills program.  It will display one file at a time, or you can
          have it display multiple files (slideshow) by using wildcards when
          you select the file to display.  Includes complete Pure/Turbo C
          source code.


BOBSHOW   Bobshow version 1.0 by Rob Cooper.  This is a Degas PC1 slideshow
          program with a difference. The pictures slide down the screen without
          any clashing of palettes.  The program achieves this by switching the
          palette and copying a block of the screen at exactly the right time
          to avoid any miscolouration.  It does all this plus it loads and
          depacks the next file simultaneously.  Freeware!


B_PAINT   Buggi Paint by Markus & Klaus Burgert is an incredible public domain
          paint/art program for the Atari ST (works on a Falcon030 too!).  It
          offers a LARGE assortment of drawling tools and a VERY slick, easy to
          use GEM interface.  There are even options for effortlessly creating
          3 dimensional objects!  It uses a HUGE drawing area and lets you
          scroll around it cleanly.  The program is in German but is so easy to
          use that English speaking people shouldn't have any trouble mastering
          it.


CEDIT3D2  3-D Object Colorizer version 2.0 by J. C. Stanford is a utility which
          allows one to recolor individual faces of a CAD-3D version 2.0 three
          dimensional object.  Individual objects may be viewed in solid form
          from any camera angle.  Changing a face's color is then as simple as
          clicking the mouse on the face you wish to change.  Objects may then
          be resaved in CAD-3D file format.  Shareware!  Registered users get a
          desk accessory version of the program as a bonus for registering!


CRACK136  Crack Art version 1.36 by Detlef R”ttger & Jan Borchers [English
          Translation by Kervyn D. Mach and the Miami Valley Atari Computer
          Enthusiasts].  Crack Art is a great paint program from Germany.
          Includes docs in both English and German.


CREATIVE  Creative Paint version 1.01 by Michael Ryffel is a sharware paint
          program designed to work on the Atari TT in TT Low resolution.  It
          should also work on any ST or STe equipped with a graphics card that
          will display TT Low resolution.  The program and all documentation is
          in German.


CV2IMG11  Convert to .IMG version 1.10 by Craig W. Daymon.  This program will
          load a variety of formats of graphics files and save them out in
          uncompressed IMG format.  The IMG files it creates should be
          compatible with any program that uses IMG files.  It has been tested
          with the IMG viewer from Migraph, IMG Quick View, WordUp, PageStream
          and Easy-Draw.  The program will load the following formats: *.NEO,
          *.PI?, *.PC?, *.TN?, *.ART, *.DOO, *.SPU, *.SPC, *.MAC, and *.IMG.


C_CHROME  Colorchrome version 1.0 by Michael von Ostheim is an easy to use
          public domain paint program.  It features several drawing tools
          including lines, ellipses, squares, circles, curves, block functions,
          and much more.  The program and all documentation is in German.


DEGADISP  DEGADISP (A Lightning Fast D.E.G.A.S. Picture Viewing Program) by
          David Abrams allows you to view any D.E.G.A.S. picture file in any
          resolution (yes, you can view High Res Monochrome Degas pics on a
          color monitor and low res color pics on a Monochrome monitor!).  It
          will display picture files from both the original D.E.G.A.S. program
          and from D.E.G.A.S. Elite (in the uncompressed format only).  In
          addition it will display Neochrome picture files on any monitor if
          you rename the .NEO picture to .PIN.  Shareware!


DLVIEWER  DL Viewer version 1.10 by Lonny L Pursell will play back DL
          animations.  Simply known as DL animations this file format
          originated from the PC platform.  Many PC CD-ROMS and Bulletin Boards
          contain DL files and now you can view them on your Atari.  This
          program is PostCardWare!


DSLIDE    Deluxe SlideShow v2.0 by John Brochu is an attempt to combine all the
          currently popular ST graphics formats into one compact, but flexible
          slide show program.  The program includes support for NeoChrome,
          DEGAS, DEGAS compressed, Tiny, and Spectrum format pictures.  Any pic
          can be displayed on EITHER monitor (Spectrum pics can only be
          displayed on color systems).  The color to hi-res mono conversions
          use a dithering algorithm to represent the varying color intensities.
          Mono to color uses gray-level approximation to closely simulate the
          different dot densities of a hi-res screen.  Shareware!


EPSXCVG   EPSXCVG - The ultimate EPS convertor for all ATARI ST machines by
          H†kon Eines will convert all EPS (both IBM and MAC formats - as long
          as they are in Adobe Illustrator 88 format) files to CVG (Calamus
          Vector) format.  It will also convert CVG files to EPS format.
          Shareware!


EP_GDPS1  A GDPS driver for Epson GTxxxx SCSI Scanners by Ulrich R”hr.  This
          driver supports GDPS version 1.0 and is shareware.  It allows 256
          color and full 24 bit color scans.  All documentation is in German.


FINELINE  Fine Line by Arie Berman is a curve drawing and painting program for
          use with low resolution (color) Atari ST computers.  It was designed
          expressly for drawing fine lines and curves with an optional
          distinctive sharp appearance, this program also includes other
          painting features, and an easy, unobtrusive menu design.
          Donationware.


FRACTAL   MandelZoom version 1.0 by Eric Bergman-Terrell is a program that will
          allow you to plot the Mandelbrot set on any Atari ST computer (high
          resolution monochrome, medium resolution color, and low resolution
          color).  The program contains many options which give you control
          over how the fractal is plotted.  You can load previously plotted
          fractals or save out fractals after they are created.


FRACTAL2  Mandelbrot Set Generator Program originally programmed in "C" by Tom
          Hudson.  GFA Basic conversion, GEM support, etc. added by Blake
          Arnold.  This program will generate a variety of Mandelbrot fractals
          on your ST's screen.  It works only in ST Low resolution.  Includes
          complete GFA Basic source code.


FTPOVSCN  These are the level 2 example scene files for use with the "Faster
          Than POV" raytracer and/or Persistence of Vision Raytracer version
          1.0.  To use these files you will *NEED* the POV-Ray ray tracer.


FTPOVST   Falcon/TT/ST version of FTPOV Raytracer.This is the enhanced (Faster
          Than POV] port from the PC to the Atari platform.Features vista-
          buffering & light-buffering for greatly reduced rendering times of
          large scenes.


FTPOVSTC  The complete C source code for "Faster Than POV-Ray 1.1".  This is
          actually a sped-up version of POV-Ray 2.2.


FUNPAINT  Funny Paint by Patrick Eickhoff is a wonderful public domain paint
          program.  The program and all docs are in German.


FX_BZPRG  FX_BZ by Beat Zenerino is a versatile computer graphics generator
          that runs in ST low and ST high resolution!  The program will
          generate three types of graphics LINES, SQUARES and FILLED SQUARES
          (Pbox), which of course are selected by clicking on the matching
          field until it is highlighted.  When you first load the program you
          will see the start up screen where you can adjust different
          parameters.  The graphics are generated on a second screen (a la
          DEGAS) and you can flip between screens by clicking the right mouse
          button.


GIFFER    Giffer by Eric Gisin is a program that will display GIF images on an
          Atari ST with a monochome monitor using a variety of dithering
          methods, including Floyd-Steinberg.  It can be used from a shell or
          the desktop.  Giffer was compiled with GCC and dLibs and is totally
          unrelated to a program of the same name for the Mac.


GRAFIEK   Grafiek version 2.0 by Kurt Vandamme.  Making large chunks of
          numerical data look interesting and informative can be a real
          challenge.  Transforming this raw data into eye-catching graphs could
          just be the answer.  Grafiek is a tool for turning your statistics
          into a visual form (eye catching graphs), which can then be
          incorporated into a DTP program or a word processor.  Shareware!


GRAFIK    Sigi Painter version 0.5 by Siegfried H�bner is a public domain paint
          program for the ST/TT/Falcon.  It offers the usual array of drawing
          tools and also offers some unique tools.  These unique tools allow
          you to create spirograph type effects using ellipses, circles, and
          other drawing primitives.  It will save and load Degas and Doodle
          format pictures.  The program and documentation are in German.


GRAPH     Graph Version 1.0 by Hans-Christoph Ostendorf is a GEM based Vector
          graphics editor with an integrated flexible diagram generator and
          curve/function plotter. It can save graphics as GEM Metafiles, GEM
          Image (*.IMG) files, or as LaTeX Code.  Works with all ST/TT/Falcon
          computers.  Works with SpeedoGDOS and MagiX.  The program and all
          documentation is in German.


GRAY      Gray by Klaus Pedersen.  This program requires an ST with High rez
          monitor, and serves as demostration ONLY.  It is a dithering program
          that utilizes the "floyd7" dithering algorithm.  It has several user
          definable options which will allow you to customize the output
          somewhat.


GVW_JPG2  GEM-View JPEG save module by Guido Vollbeding - offers a 10% speed
          increase over previous versions.


GVW_TOL4  A collection of tools for use with GEM-View 3.xx.  You must extract/
          install the tool files with the GVW_INSTALL.APP program that is
          included with this file.


GVW_V310  GEM-View version 3.10 by Dieter Fiebelkorn is an excellent GEM based
          file viewer.  It is completely GEM legal and runs under all versions
          of TOS.  It supports loading and saving in more formats than any
          other viewer around.  It is SHAREWARE.  In North America users can
          register through Cybercube Research Limited.


HAPPY     Happy Paint version 1.2 by Alexander Gesinn is a shareware paint
          program for the ST/TT/Falcon030.  It offers the usual drawing tools.
          Happy Paint uses a dual screen mode like Degas (one screen for the
          image and one screen for the tool box).  It also includes some very
          slick 3D effects generation options.  The program is completely icon
          driven.  All documentation is in German.


IMG2PS    Img2ps by Th. Morus Walter is a freeware utility that will convert
          monochrome GEM Image files (*.IMG) to PostScript format (*.[E]PS).
          Now your GEM Images can be loaded into programs that only import
          PostScript graphics and/or printed on PostScript printers.  Includes
          complete source code.  All documentation is in German.


IMGINDX2  IMG INDX by Chet Walters was designed to work in conjunction with IMG
          CAT to provide an index page (or pages) for the graphics printouts
          obtained with IMG CAT.  The index is a quick reference sheet which
          lets you locate images by name quickly.  In addition to the name of
          each IMG found in the path chosen, the pixel width and height of each
          image is shown along with the actual printed size of the image in
          centimeters or inches according to the printer resolution you have
          set.  IMG INDX does not require GDOS nor any special drivers.


IMGVIEWR  Image Viewer version 0.50mcprda by Michael Bergman will load and
          display .IMG, MacPaint, Degas Elite P?3 files as well as the .CL?
          files that DTPaint uses for its Lasso, Jack Knife, and Block tools.
          Is it a desk accessory or a program?  It's both!  Simply change the
          extension to .PRG to run it as a program or .ACC to run as an
          accessory.  Freeware!


JPEG5     This folder contains 68000 and 68030 versions of the fifth public
          release of the Independent JPEG Group's free JPEG software.  It also
          contains brief manuals on the operation of this software.  It does
          NOT contain any source code.  Includes complete source and
          documentation.


KOZMIC_4  KOZMIC by Dave Henniker.  The purpose of the program is to create
          psychedelic patterns which can be saved to disk.   No drawing skills
          are needed but experimentation is required to increase the range of
          effects. The help options provide enough information to get started,
          and further on-line help is available from most of the menus.
          Shareware!


LITTLE    Little Painter version 4.28 by Markus Dheus is a paint program for
          the Atari ST/STe/TT/Falcon030.  It is a GEM driven application that
          offers a variety of painting tools.  It apparently saves and loads in
          it's own proprietary file format.  The program and all documentation
          is in German.


MASTRPNT  MasterPaint by Klaus Schroiff is a slick paint program for use on
          Atari TOS computers.  It uses both drop down GEM menus as well as a
          tool box which provide the usual assortment of drawing tools.  The
          program is in English but the documentation is in German.


MAXIVEWR  MaxiViewer from SKWare One is a shareware Image File Viewer for ALL
          Atari TOS computers.  It views a variety of image files in all
          resolutions that have as many or more colors as the image, that is,
          in a 256 color resolution, you can view 256 color (8 plane), 128
          color (7 plane), 64 color (6 plane), 32 color (5 plane), 16 color (4
          plane), 4 color (2 plane), and 2 color (monoplane) image files.
          Presently supported are GEM IMG (mono, STTT, XIMG), PrismPaint PNT,
          TruePaint TPI, PCPaintbrush PCX, Windows BMP, DEGAS, TINY, NEO, all
          Motorola IFF, MacPaint MAC, ImageLab B&W, AIM23 IM, Seymour-Radix RWL
          and RWH, and Aldus Rev. 6.0 TIFF.


MISTRAL   Mistral Grafik Mono version 1.0 by Vielen Dank and J. Butterweck is a
          public domain paint program for Atari TOS computers.  The program and
          all documentation is in German.  The docs describe version 2.0 (which
          is NOT public domain) and how to order it.


MOVIE100  Brainstorm FLI/FLC Movie Player version 1.00 is an application/
          accessory that is able to play any FLI/FLC files.  Its main features
          are: Legal GEM program, TOS/MultiTOS compatible.  Runs in any Atari
          standard resolution.  AES colors friendly (uses standard AES
          palette).  Movies can be resized on the fly.  Uses most new GEM
          features (clipboard, MultiTOS drag&drop, iconification...)  Several
          files can be played at the same time.  Nice & simple user interface.
          Includes some sample movies.


PLAYIT    AutoPlay, Playit & PlayEdit by David R. Sullivan.  AutoPlay will
          allow you to play and manipulate sound files (.SPL or .SND) while
          manipulating DEGAS/NEOchrome pictures.  Playedit allows you to load
          in raw digitized .SPL sound files and save them with the proper
          "speed" included as a .SND file.  Playit is a simple "click and play"
          sound file player designed to only play back these "modified" .SND
          files.


PLOT_303  Mandelbrot Plotter/Julia Plotter version 3.03 by Neil B. Breeden II
          are fractal generator programs.  These new (3.x) versions are 38
          percent faster then the previous version 2.xx series.  You can save a
          fractal to disk in Degas format once you have created it.


PM2DEG    PM2DEG by Charles E. Cullinan II is a program that will convert Print
          Master Icons to Degas format.  It will convert the PM icons to either
          PI2 or PI3 format.  This program will run in any resolution and has
          been compressed to a smaller program that will load and decompress
          itself in memory in a couple of seconds.


PSTGR     P/ST Graphics version 1.0 by Chris Sorensen allows Portfolio screen
          graphics to be viewed and translated on ST computers.  Both PGF and
          PGC file formats (created by Don Messerli of Software Vineyard) are
          supported.  P/ST can translate files from one format to the other.
          Shareware!


PS_PLUS   PaintShop+ version 2.03 by Thomas Much is a remarkable paint program
          from Germany.  The program and all docs are in German but it should
          be pretty easy to figureout how to use this program.  Shareware!


RDRAW     R-Draw ST Painting System by Randy McSorley is a high-resolution
          painting program which can be used either in medium or high
          resolution.  Due to the many features of R-Draw ST, 1 meg of RAM is
          required.  All the functions of R-Draw ST are accessable through a
          GEM menu bar.  R-Draw will save/load Deagas format picture files.
          R-Draw offers the usual assortment of drawing tools.


RLDGD_10  GrafX Display version 1.0 by Jeffrey A. Kinzer is a low res picture
          displayer (NEOchrome and Degas format) that can also be used as a
          "video catalog" for your pictures.  Only runs in ST Low resolution.
          Does NOT work on the Falcon030.


RLSGT_09  GrafX Titan version 0.9 by Jeffrey A. Kinzer is to be a multi-role
          graphics utility.  Current functions include the following: Ability
          to load DEGAS, DEGAS compressed, and Neochrome pictures, without the
          requirement to specify type. Resolution is changed as necessary by
          the program itself.  Support of color cycling for DEGAS pictures,
          including DEGAS Elite's 4-channel color cycling.  Allows for page
          flip animation of any group of pictures loaded into memory, with
          playback at variable speeds.  Provides for easy loading a long
          sequence of picture files for animation.  Shareware!


ROYALPNT  Royal Paint version 1.29 by Atte Oksanen is a paint program that
          works only in low resolution.  Shareware!


SPECVIEW  Spectrum Viewer by John Hickey is a program that will allow you to
          view Spectrum pictures one at a time (instead of viewing them in a
          slideshow format).  It's pretty straight-forward, just run the
          program, select a picture to view, and view it!  When done viewing,
          hit the Space Bar.  Then, select another picture, or quit.  Includes
          the complete GFA basic source code.


SQUEEZIM  .IMG Squeezer by  W. D. Parks & Chet Walters will let you load *.IMG
          format graphics files and resave them in a more efficient *.IMG
          format (compressed IMG).  It will convert one IMG file at a time or
          an entire directory.  You can even have it delete the *.GEM files
          that some programs create when they save in IMG format.  Don't worry
          - after the IMG files are squeezed, they'll load just fine into all
          the programs they loaded into before.  They'll just take up a bunch
          of less space on your disk drives!  Shareware!


TGA_2GIF  tga2gif version 0.3 is a handy utility that will convert 24 bit Targa
          (*.TGA) picture files to GIF87a (*.GIF) format pictures.  The
          documentation is in German.
